AI Agents (MCP)
Give Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other AI agents read access to your projects, feature requests, comments and roadmap through the FeaturePortal Model Context Protocol server. Ask “What should I build next?” and your agent answers from real user feedback.
Setup
1. Create an API token
Open Dashboard → API Tokens and create a token. It starts with fp_pat_ and is shown only once, so copy it right away. This is different from a project's API key, which only works with the iOS SDK and widget.
2. Connect your agent
The server URL is https://featureportal.com/api/mcp. Send the token in the Authorization header.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http featureportal https://featureportal.com/api/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer fp_pat_YOUR_TOKEN"
Codex (~/.codex/config.toml)
# export FEATUREPORTAL_TOKEN="fp_pat_YOUR_TOKEN" [mcp_servers.featureportal] url = "https://featureportal.com/api/mcp" bearer_token_env_var = "FEATUREPORTAL_TOKEN"
Cursor and other clients
{
"mcpServers": {
"featureportal": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://featureportal.com/api/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer fp_pat_YOUR_TOKEN"
}
}
}
}3. Ask away
- “What are the top 10 requests for my iOS app?”
- “Summarize everything users said about sync this month.”
- “What's on my roadmap, and which Up Next item has the most votes?”
- “Read the comments on the dark mode request and draft an implementation plan.”
Tools
All tools are read-only. Statuses are pending, approved (shown as Up Next), in_progress, completed and rejected.
| Tool | What it returns | Parameters |
|---|---|---|
| list_projects | Your projects with feedback counts by status, tags, and roadmap links. | None |
| list_feedback | Browse or search feature requests in one project or across all of them. | projectId, status, tag, query, createdAfter, sort, limit, offset |
| get_feedback | One request in full, with all comments and its status history. | feedbackId |
| get_roadmap | Up Next, In Progress and Completed items for a project. | projectId |
| get_project_stats | Totals, status breakdown, top voted and most discussed requests, tag usage. | projectId, since |
Security
- Tokens are read-only and can only see projects you own.
- FeaturePortal stores a hash of each token, never the token itself, so a lost token can't be recovered. Create a new one instead.
- Revoke a token on the API Tokens page and it stops working immediately. Choose an expiry when you create it.
- Each token can make 60 requests per minute. Agents receive the submitter email you collected for a request, but never the email addresses of commenters.
